Happy New Year! The common theme every January is "New Year's Resolutions", but how many of those ever stick? I've been going to the gym regularly for many years now, and I always laugh at how the gym will fill up in January but be back to just "the regulars" by March. There is very little momentum in a resolution. However, I'm a big believer in goals. I think more than anything else we need to have clear, visible goals for our year or we'll never make the progress we want. Do you have your goals for 2023 written down? And are they measurable? Saying "I want to do better this year" is not a measurable goal. Saying "I want to save $5000 this year" is. That is something you can shoot for, and it's obvious if you are on track to accomplish it. I challenge you to set some written goals for this year. Have them stuck on your bathroom mirror, on your office wall, or somewhere you'll see them on a regular basis to help you realize where you stand on accomplishing them. Here are some of my goals for 2023: * Write another book (my latest one just came out in December!) * Perform in three states I've never been to before * Learn a new language * Create a new presentation on leadership for companies * Add at least twenty new companies to my roster of clients Those are measurable and those will definitely stretch me, but I'm willing to give it a shot. Even if I don't hit them all, I will be on my way toward becoming a better person for what I do accomplish. One year from now, you'll be a different person than you are today (hopefully).
